Tatlow Park
|
This is a portrait of Tatlow Park in nine photographs. Taken from the path winding through this urban west coast park, these images record the juncture where natural growth and man-made experience of nature meet.
The series initially took shape during frequent walks through this Vancouver park with my son. His fascination with the view from below the trees as we walked on the path through the park allowed me to see this place from a new perspective - literally experiencing it with fresh eyes. These images are taken in a single day, capturing a snapshot of the park from a child’s viewpoint at one particular moment. The natural forms resolve themselves into archetypal images evoking the world beyond the park as photographs of the view below the trees allude to abstraction, to the sinister, and even to monumentality.
